Must be slow as f--k with all that weight in the wheels. Also the suspension must be taking a hammering with the sprung weight...... (DOES LOOK COOL    )

RT,
if by 'cleverly engineered', you mean 'Heath Robinson' style, that might be closer to the mark.

The engine and gearbox are mounted high up, facing the wrong way, then drive is transmitted to that upside down gearbox at the front via a pair of chains running on sprockets bolted to the brake drums.
Reduced frontal area compared to a 2CV might explain its turn of speed, a low CD certainly doesn't.
Mind you it's been seen at Geoff's place, so maybe a spare race engine has found its way under the bonnet. ;)

When I saw this machine next to the Lomax stand at the only kit car show I've ever attended, first thought was that David Low had completely lost the plot...

This I actually quite like ... it looks the part, somehow. And from what Terry says, it's quite cleverly engineered too.

Does sound a bit Heath Robinson ... mind you, if it works, why not? Sounds to be more in the spirit of the 2cv world than those horrible pretend Veteran cars or a GT40 mock up ...

Yes, not sure what that's all about. Maybe the dashpot's filled with EP90 and it drip feeds onto the drive chains.
