 tickover
My 2 2cv has been running fine for ages,till this week when it stoped ticking over,then it ticked over again ok,now it wount tick over at all and really low revs are lunpy,a little bit revs and it goes fine,still starts ok,im thinking blocked idle jet or dirt in carb,still using it daily,wount get chance to look at it till sunday,anyone else had same symptoms

Sounds very much like crap in the idle jet - check return spring hasn't gone AWOL too, or the throttle stop screw hasn't wound itself down

Quick 10 minute cure [if it is the idle jet] ..... Take the rubber "air filter to carb" wotsit off .......rev the engine and while its revving put the palm of your hand firmly over the top of the carb ....until the engine stalls. If theres any crap in the idle jet it'll dislodge it. And if youre one of those people who dont like getting yer hands dirty .....dont attempt to do it with rubber gloves on .... hth T.

In my experience that's great for the primary and secondary jets, but doesn't do much fir the idle jet. It only takes a few seconds to remove the idle jet, though, it's the 8mm hex head with the screwdriver slot, and is near the top at the front. Easier undone with spanner than a screwdriver.

Luke, yep, it tends to embed any debris that's already lodged in the tiny drilling even deeper. Ill always remove a blocked jet to clean. You know its 100% clear

Got to work on it this morning,removed jet 1st,removed a large piece muck,washed and blown out,refitted,ticks over a treat,done a few other niggling jobs,then went on a 80 mile round trip with the roof down,didnt miss a beat,  thanks for all advise
