Hey Russell, why don't we go on a spying mission together? I will also join the circus one day. My wife is French and can/will do all the translation

Sounds good....

Are there any 'cross meetings local to you this year?

I can't do much until after the WM. Maybe the september event I can get to. It is south of Paris just down the road. When are planing your trip to France?

Russ, you do realise that you won't be able to run it at 'bottoming out on fag-butts" height don't you?

I'm looking into this again, quite seriously. The shell and chassis' I've aquired are ripe for this, although there seems to be a minefield of things i don't understand (how to aquire a license, various things about the way the car has to be built etc).

Something I did find when looking at the regs was this set of pictures:

and this quote to go with them:

Quote:
Cet arceau était conforme aux normes exigées par le règlement technique 2005 et il était construit de façon exemplaire.

in English:

Quote:
This RollBar was consistent with the standards required by the technical regulation 2005 and it was built in an exemplary manner.

The regs ask for a cage made from CDS, yet they seem quite happy with using three bits of straight tube and a pair of preformed bends for the main hoop!! The regs have changed slightly now, but even so, to call this a car built " in an exemplary manner" does seem odd, I'd have thought a single piece hoop made from a bit of any old scaffold bar would be better than this?

So far, I've arranged a chassis, a body and now the (hard to find in UK) 2cv4 gearbox. now all i have to do is assemble them all in the same place...

Chassis is near Cambridge, Body is near Canterbury and the gearbox is near Paris. I have an engine and suspension, a seat and most of the rest of the panels now too. I need a roll cage though.

Sounds like you should go to the Easter camp and pick up the chassis on your way home then :D

I had considered that, but it won't go on the roof of the Ami.

At least, i don't think it will...

Jack up your suspension and strap it underneath!
