Little Louis - if he wanted a restored one he'd go out and buy one. I'm assuming you are Louis Barber Jnr? He'd be more likely to buy from your Dad than other "well known specialists" as he has expressed interest in a 4x4.

Nah I just know Louis and it can get confusing sometimes  although he is bart's (on here) father, I would never buy from a specialist other than Sparrow, Dalton or Barbour, as you know its going to be welded and rust free

I went back into hospital for more surgery a few days after I posted this thread and was not able to work on the zero miles car. I'm now fully recovered and able to take it on - I'm going to see it with the owner on Thursday morning so I'll post some pictures in the evening. We may even fire it up and drive it around his estate. Other than pushing it around the barn it's in, that'll be the first time it has moved under its own power since it was driven off the delivery transporter.

Got the D*lly out of its box, prepped it up, fired it up, drove it round. They did drive it around their estate (NOT a council estate :D ) when it was delivered in late 1989 and they put 11 miles on it. We put a couple of miles on it today.

The brown stuff smeared all over the car is some sort of waxoyl put on all the seams all over the car.

Here are half a dozen, there are 50 photos on my Facebook page.

There are a couple of things I've not seen on any 2CV I've owned. A pad of material underneath the intake manifold plenum chamber that is made up of layer of yellow woven nylon (sort of like a scouring pad) on top of a layer of grey felt. It is firmly fixed there and can't be pulled out. There's also what I assume to be a large relay in an aluminium canister down below the fan housing. Is this a late model thing? All my 2CV's were late '70's or earlier and didn't have anything like that.

There are also lots of rubber anti-vibration/anti-rattle fittings that I've never seen before.

That canister is for the dim-dip system for the UK. It was a short lived idea which never became law.
