A '58 car running 375 when most 2CVs of the period were powered by 425 :? No wonder the project failed

I think it was sometime in the 60s - they certainly made Amis there. We started getting RHD Portuguese 2cvs in the summer of 1987, and for a while there if you bought a new 2cv you could get either a French or a Portuguese one. Production in France ended in February 1988.

Am I right in thinking it was midway through bamboo production that they changed?

There were certainly French and Portuguese-produced Bamboos. For the record, my Dad's old Bamboo was first registered in September 1987, and it was made in Portugal.

Feb '88 was when French production ended, but cars were already being made in Portugal, and we started getting them in summer '87, as I said above!

Though I can't back it up, I suspect that RHD production ended in Paris in the summer of 1987, and that's when they started making RHD 2cvs in Portugal. For a few months if you ordered a new RHD 2cv it was the luck of the draw whether you got one from F or P (some cars sat around for months before being sold/registered). I suspect that after the summer of '87, Paris only made LHD 2cvs, as Citroen wound down their operations there.
