Post Wheels trims.
Having seen the paper template of 4x4 SuperFinn's amazing car on the 'Sunday Competition' thread, I was wondering if 'normal' 15" wheel covers will fit 2CV wheels?

If they do fit, I would consider getting a set and using them as SuperFinn has done to continue my car's proposed colour scheme onto the wheels.

His looks fab... (on paper at least ;) )

Ah!

As I said, 'on paper at least...' ;)

Does SuperFinn's car have the purple hand prints on it - or is that also a further 'enhancement' by Tom?!! Actually, it's a fab looking car in the real photo and in paper template form.

So - will standard plastic wheel trims/covers fit 2CV wheels, or is there something different about the rim profile or hub that'll prevent this? (Trying to keep my options open...)

Some do. The problem is that most "normal" wheels are fairly flat, with the rim outer edge being the "sticky-outiest" bit. 2cv wheels aren't. There's that ridge which sticks out. A bit of trial and error might find some with sufficient dish to fit.

Trouble is, I've never seen a single 2cv with plastic wheel trims on that didn't look thoroughly awful.

agreed. look how naff they look on Stuart Casbeards old sidewinder - take no notice of the very early 90's stickers - the photo was taken in 1993 & they were considered high-fashion at the time!

I later had these trims on my Beachcomber when Stuart had a set of GSA alloys refurbished. Trims lasted all of a fortnight & i lost one 'Bullitt' style whilst taking a bend in a particularly spirited manner outside the local Chinese takeaway!

I've never seen anything better than what Citroen themselves did. I guess everybodies taste is different though.

Those Perrier wheel trims always remind me of mk2 Golf GTi 16v alloys:
