Post renovation 2cv special
Hi all
am a new member,i live in SW France and am in the starting phase of renovating a 1989 2cv special.
have removed body ,this in itself is in good order, but will require some
welding,i have a stick welder and a spot welder would these be OK for the footwells etc.
Have ditched the chassis and hoping to replace this with a galv one from
Mehari Cassis near Marseills.
If any members have any helpfull comments and tips regarding my project i would be well pleased
All the best Dave

Hi Dave, welcome to the Forum.

There are a few members who have had experience of restoring a 2CV bodyshell active on here, so I'm sure you will find all the guidance you'll need as you go.

I'd opt for the spotwelder and a good mig set, I think you'll struggle with an arc (stick) welder on the thin steel used in a 2cv body.

I might have some pictures of 2cvs that I've worked on which I'll dig out and post up if you'd find that helpful? If the floors are gone then you'll probably find the lower bulkhead and rear heel sections are also past thier best. An easy job to do whilst the body is off, and well worthwhile.

Hope that helps for now!
