Post subject:  Recommend an outdoor cover for 2CV

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a cover for keeping a 2CV protected outdoors (in sunny Scotland)? We've seen a few online (ranging from plastic to goretex), but were just looking for the opinions of those who have actually purchased and used one of these.

Thanks in advance.

Not that keen on the cheap one from Ecas. Didn't seem water resistant at all to me. Having said that, it's proper cheap, fits well enough and keeps the bird shite off.
The best cover I've used on my 2cv is the one I bought years ago for my Beetle. It was about fifty quid, fitted both my Bug and my 2cv perfect and kept the car pretty dry. It was made by 'Empi' but not sure if they're still available anywhere.

i used the Cheap ecas one too. its not listed as waterproof but water resistant. i like it because it means that water can evaporate off the car too, rather than condensing underneath the cover which doesn't exactly help rust!

if it is going to be under there for a long spell then i think a better quality one would be worth the cash.

A decent quality proper outdoor cover will be not only waterproof but breathable - so water can get out but not in.

The various dedicated car cover suppliers seemed surprisingly inexpensive when I was talking to 'em a while back about one for the van. £100-150 for their top-quality storm-proof covers. Only reason I didn't buy one (yet) is that they all seem to swear that a Moggy Thou Trav cover is perfect for an AK, and I got the van into the garage...

Reckon I'll have a chat with 'em once the van's on the road, and suggest they bring a Trav cover and a tape measure to some event - if it fits, I'll buy it. If it doesn't, they measure up...
