If I'm going to have a multi subject post, I just as well do it properly.

My TIG welder. To help my welding  I ordered a foot pedal. It arrived, but the 5 pin connector is different. So reseached Jasic, and found a welding supplier who has obviously come across this before, because he stocks the correct connector.. So when it arrives, I will cut off the pedal connector, and try to solder the new one. And try not to fry an expensive welder.

The foot pedal is proving a little stuborn to get into at the moment. :D

Pete

The Gen does have the ability to add a starter motor. The kit includes a new flywheel with ring gear. Not bad @ £78.

Tempting, but best see about getting it running, and generating sufficient power first.

It would appear, that the TIG requires additional load before it settles on it's running amps. Then we add to that, that the Gen is idling, and needs time to rev and supply power. Add the two issues together, it fails.

If the gen can be started by hand great, stick with the simple option ,,, my mover needs a few bloody good pulls before it goes….

Does the welder have a Mig Option.?
Mig is easier and can be tidy for simple/straight welds.
FYI my mig runs off. 13amp plug, could if needed measure ac current at various settings??
Cheers

No Mig option. Though I do have a Mig.

If I recall, it's called inductive load.

The TIG will run from 13amp plug. :) With the Gen, it's just the sudden demand surge that is the issue.

Another benefit of the Gen is, it will charge a battery. It has a circuit that produce 12v for the coil etc. This can be tapped for charging a battery. It's the way it's done for those with starter motors. Useful for lighting. :)

So .... ow ow ow ....

My repetitve strain injury has flared up again. Probably the pull cord on the Gen. So as long as it works and produces electricity, it will get electic start.

According to tracking, the carb has departed China, and Royal Mail are expecting it. :)

Further research led to the being a duel fuel carb available. Something to think about. :)
