Post Faulty bulb
Hi all.
Opinions please.
For several days I have been driving after dark with headlights on.
I quickly noticed the off-side dipped beam was intermittent, flashing on and off.
Faulty bulb, fair enough, but as the bulb flashed the engine sometimes hesitated momentarily.
I replaced the bulb which cure the engine faltering.
Had the filament end reflector plate rattling around freely inside caused a dead short within the bulb?
My 2cv does not suffer from cutting out so can I assume my diagnosis is correct.
If so, is it a good idea to fit a battery fuse?

Comments please.

Why not put fuse for all filaments, like is on "north spec" 2CV's and Dyane's? Two fuse boxes instead of one, four of them for headlights, two separate for side lights and one for switched and another for continious supply..?

Quite rare to have shorted bulb inside, never heard of that...

I would be checking the headlight/side light grounds.
If you have electronic ignition, check the ground for that as well. :)

Actually .... check all the grounds :D

May be as the bulb reconnects the current surge is enough to put a load on the alternator?
