I will probably in the first instance, put a 2cv manifold on. I may just mount a 2cv engine, if it will mate up with the gearbox.

The 2CV engine will fit, only problem is the starter what is mounted about 5mm further, I just machined tha 5mm away from bellhouse where the starter comes. Also remember, the starter ring gear on GS/Visa flywheel is different, but it is easy to swap to 2CV ring gear to both of flywheels...

Did I mention, on my Dyane with GS gearbox and Visa bellhouse, is now 2CV6 engine with EFI? Or should be, just "borrowed" the engine to my 4x4 Dyane for some time, only waiting to re-line the crank of supercharged engine...

So, from that point, practically any of these and gearbox will fit together, only some issues will be but all of them can be solved. And nowadays it is easy to find answers from "interweb", it was a very different situation back then when I tried to have some info about swapping engines-boxes. Mostly got answers like "not gonna fit" and "impossible to install" etc. That question was "will Visa engine fit to gearbox from GS with Visa bellhouse, and all that to Dyane?" When everybody said "no" who I was talking about, only way was to get those engines-boxes and examine. My interest became after studying Haynes manuals of Visa and GS, those gearboxes showed similar enough to me, and after that vision became reality. Never heard anyone fitted those before me, but still I'm quite sure someone has been on that way before...

First thought about "will they fit" was when I first time was seen the Bond 2CV engine bay, with GS engine and 2CV gearbox (small drum brakes!!!), so the first impression was to have GS engine. But with our regulations back then, it was too expensive and hard task for me, so I went a "lighter way" then...

Thank you Jasu :)

Your point regarding the starter motor is interesting.

I've tried to research the gsa 5 speed, but there is little published out there, so anything you can offer may be useful. Your comment about acquiring it, and fitting it together is the approach I was taking. :D

Lack of information regarding fitting the 5 speed, does suggest the rarity of the gearbox, and that makes me more comfortable with the amount I paid for it.

I think with a squeeze, it will fit. How did you approach the rear mount?

There are also Swiss made 5 speed gearboxes for the 2cv. But i think they have become rare. Made by Herr Weber. They won't be cheap.

Thanks Pete

Thanks @azl57. I have heard of those, scary money now I suspect. :)

Actual build info is scarce, and I suppose I shouldn't criticise that if I'm not prepared to publish myself. So lets see what I/we come up with.

@lpgo

do you have any experience/thoughts on this?

Roger,
I may have a complete LNA gearbox any interest?
Ratios may suit 2cv, just swop the internals.
Have the Gs gearbox tools for Pinion setting.
Cheers

would anyone have an image of a visa clutch please?

I don't understand how it works with the raised lip on the flywheel!
