Post Recovering roofs
After looking at the cost of coated acrylic canvas a friend and I decided to have a shot at making a roof, it is currently under testing on a mates car while we tweak tension etc etc. However the rear window looks like it could potentially be a pig, and I do fancy being able to roll the roof down that bit further...

Has anyone had much experience with putting clear plastic sheet in rather than the original glass panel?

Actually on tinkering it seems fitting rear windows isn't that bad, if anyone else is trying it though note that marking the hole for the window with the roof on the car is probably the best policy. Ours is no about 20mm too high.

Arggghhh! Never will 20mm matter so much ;)

Have you used a flexible plastic window, then? How did you bond it to the roof material?

Interesting project...

Any photos?

We have fitted the old rear window, but as the whole thing is 2cm too short (even made up a jig to get the length right but somehow it shrunk) the window fouls the rear cross bar, and if that is ground down the boot lid won't lock.

More tinkering is required.

Its about an afternoons work, forty quids of canvas, and five quid in glue to give it a shot.
