Oh really? I had heard they pay out easily because its cheaper than fixing the roads.
I will give it a go, I will take a picture of the huge pothole which they had already marked around, will have proof of being recovered back home, and hopefully my garage will be able to confirm for me that this was pothole related.

Hi Ian, were is the play on the wheel side or on the steering house side. On the steeringhouse side you can use a trick from the 50s to counter wobbly steering. (as a temporarly solution). They did put a valve spring between the 2 connectors. Compress the spring in a vise and fixe it with wires. Put it in place and cut the wires.

Aha clever. Unfortunately the play I've noticed is on the wheel side.

Funnily enough I did wonder about some kind of temporary solution and toyed with the idea of some kind of compression on the joint. But couldn't think of anything that would work.

Plus the motorway would make me nervous, lol.

I don't think so, I think that will make complete failure more possible.

I did bring all my tools with me for this trip but I'm looking forward to being driven tomorrow, that never happens! Lol.

I had the same with a broken rear brake spring. I was in bretagne 900kms from home and 2 citroen dealers refused to help me. A small village garage came to the rescue but i never travel again without my special 2cv tools on board... Good luck

I got home in a hire car in the end. Took from about 9am to 6pm for that to happen despite all day efforts, then a 3.5hr drive home. Citroen C3, which I have to say I thought was a really awful car in all respects apart from not too bad at bumps in the road.

Car came back on a flatbed by midnight, it's at the garage now so I'll report back on the results. Was really happy to see it arrive back, didn't like the idea of them putting it in storage for a couple days like they were suggesting, in a secure facility.

All done, was only the track rod joint arm socket things. I bought a set off ebay that were barely used old stock in the end, and fitting by the garage was only £72. £90 for parts total, both sides done.

The wheel was literally wobbling around ridiculously by the end of it, I drove it over to garage to be done.

Feels amazing now! (Already did oddly until it got nearly undriveable, but more so now. Lol.)
