Thanks Eirik, a good endorsement from you. Whilst we are in ‘lockdown’ it’s a good time to get some goodies especially if it helps maintaining the 2cv. I had a 20 mile run in the car yesterday, troublefree & it ran, I’m slightly hesitant to say this but, very well. It seemed smoother & quieter with the repaired breather, but maybe just my imagination. I have to say I am more hopeful than before, time will tell. |

@subarupete Looking back at your images, I note you appear to have added an additional round plate to attach the reeds to. Was there a reason for not fitting them to the original part? |

From recall ? The round part is a base for the “reeds”so that the nuts/bolts can be done up tightly. |

So .... Shamelessly stealing Petes idea ..... I like the reeds, but I didn't like that they didn't have a stop and could be over stressed. So designed a fixing and stop plate combined. Prototype is printed in ABS, which I would be very surprised if it survived the heat. This is in it's infancy, so don't hold your breath. Thinking of perhaps creating a mould from this and could either be created in white metal, or a heat resistant epoxy. Thoughts please ..... |

What temp does the printer run at? Don’t think the breather gets very hot? Will run my engine and measure with IR gun.... |

Would be good if you could get a IR reading. Its also how hot oil gets when sprayed on it though. Probably warmer on the inside than the outside. And how much the oil being hot effects the ABS. Edit I print at 230*c, but I don't know how much I trust it over 85c when under load. |

Ran the engine till the block at 50deg C oil with oil filter at 80deg C, breather at a cool 21deg C. On the move it’s in the air flow, so I reckon it does get that hot, so ABS is ok from a heat perspective but Oil mist may attack it? Test bed available... |

Lets see how far I get with it .... Pete, what did you do regarding the seal between the two halves? |
