I had a mice nest in the chassis too. Maybe citroen got rid of mice by luring them into the chassis... )

That's ok, the later ones were riveted. If you move them up and down vertically and there are no scratching noises you can re-use them.

Never seen a riveted one. But no noises might also indicate it's seized... When moving up and down vertically(shaking), you should feel the weight moving in there.

Yes you should feel the moving weight but it should not scratch.. Here a pic from a Dyane batteur NOS.
