They obviously employed mice at the factory......I have exactly the same "insulation" :)

I had a mice nest in the chassis too. Maybe citroen got rid of mice by luring them into the chassis... ;-))

That's ok, the later ones were riveted. If you move them up and down vertically and there are no scratching noises you can re-use them.

Yeah, the ones on that Flamin' '57 Azu had a cap bolt with a copper washer leading to a perforated tube. got to be the best one for a long life. Missing that old van now :) .

Learning something every day. Never seen a riveted one.
But no noises might also indicate it's seized... When moving up and down vertically(shaking), you should feel the weight
moving in there.

Yes you should feel the moving weight but it should not scratch..
