Hi Eirik,
I didn't know they were interchangeable.....! Easy fix then :)

Although "getting the correct clutch" does mean having to change the flywheel, for the later type...

Yes, a disc brake gearbox can be converted to take drum brakes.

Just been watching a new YouTube video of an American chap with a 1976 2CV4 (AZKB) which has a 1980's 602cc engine fitted (A06/635). The carburettor is a single choke Solex, which was standard fitment on the 435cc (AYA2) engine and the 602cc (AK2) in the 1970's. A question - are the manifolds for the 70's 2CV engines the same, or does the 602cc (AK2) have a wider manifold that won't fit the 435 engine? The heat exchangers appear to go straight back, rather than angled outwards towards the inner wings, which suggests 435cc manifold/heat exchangers.

Yes. The 602cc manifold is wider than 435cc...

And yes the '70s single carb manifold can be swapped for the modern ones. I have it in my 2cv6 too. The car hangs better on the gas in the uphill stretches.

435s are tiny, physically smaller than both 425s and 435s. Much like the M4 602 there are (realistically) no usable interchangeable parts between them.
