Post Pipe inside heat exchanger
I need to replace the r/h pipe which is inside the heat exchanger. Note the comment on ECAS page where I have ordered the part from that it is DIFFICULT TO FIT. Now I don't know whether that comment applies to an experienced mechanic or to a DIYer like myself. So any hints or tips or pitfalls likely to occur on how to remove heat exchanger and pipe and refit same. Also approximately how long would it take an experienced mechanic to replace this part. Thank you.

Which pipe are we talking about; oil feed; pushrod tube; push rod tube seals, or something else?

Exhaust Derek!

Not to many would attempt this as the easiest solution is to source another heat exchanger. I've taken one apart, but not put one together (didn't intend to ;) ).

I guess your changing it because you think its blowing. If so, just fit the new pipe before dismantling to ensure it resolves the issue. :D

The halves of the exchanger metal, are folded over to retain. Also probably welded to pipe to stop rattling.

Take a look and you will see. If you get it apart, take a look at the dump control flap to see if that can be improved. ;)

Never opened a heat exchanger. But to change the pipe, couldn't one just cut the heat exchanger open at the bottom (from "pipe opening to pipe opening), bend it apart, change the pipe, clamp it back together and weld it?

In germany they sold 2cv catalisers that went in the heat exchanger. As they are getting very hot you had better heating too. They took the thing apart to put it in i presume.
