Post subject:  Lighting Problem

Hi all, interesting problem with the headlamps has developed!

When full beam is on & the engine is reved past tick over, the alternator is charging off the scale on my dash mounted voltmeter at 16+ volts.

Have tried another new voltage regulator, but no different. Cleaned &, replaced where needed, all lighting connectors.

any ideas  Only have this charging fault when full beam is on.

Disconnect the regulator and connect it directly to the alternator exciter, and positive and negative terminals on the battery and see what happens.

Many thanks, but problem solved.

The earth by the top of the drivers side (RHD) heater tube was loose! Had the car in bits a while ago, must have forgot to tighten it back up.

A lot to be said for having a dash mounted accessory voltmeter, if I did not have one fitted I would have had no idea, it may well have ended in disaster.
