Nothing should leap at you. or ping into the distance. :)
I've not read back through this thread, so idealy, you have the correct back plate, as shown on the ecas site :)

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's probably electrical (or, an electric fuel pump!) ....

It's the backplate as on a german 2cv they have reversing light instead of the rear fog light.???

Perfect, thank you! I bought a complete kit with back plate and switch. Wasn't aware before I removed the gearbox from the car that I have the type that allows to be drilled/tapped, but I'm happy that I won't have to make the hole myself
