Somewhere in the chain there are worn parts, cam,cam follower, pushrod, rocker etc. Its more difficult, but adjust the tappet with the engine ticking over - get ready to catch some oil !

This is not advisable.
1 The tappets should be checked with engine cold.
2 With engine running and a feeler gauge inserted to the required gap, there will be insufficient closure of the valve and the hammering to the feeler gauge could damage the blade giving a false reading - if you could actually manage to adjust same with the rockers on the move.

Ensure you are pushing with the screwdriver when adjusting. It is probably wear though.

Or .... Is the quite side to quite!

Well, that would be a combination of auto correct and a need to go to Spec Savers.

Thanks chaps, must be bit of wear some where then, strange on one side only!..Well it's not too bad so will leave it.Forgot to mention I have had the heads off because plug stripped so ground valves while off but all back OK..Can't remember what the tappets were like before unfortunately as it's nearly three years since it was running .Thanks again.
