Mark 4x4 Superfinn uses them. (Driving on 1-2-Spark). I think he loves them... Me I,m driving on whatever the carshop gives to me over the counter.. I can,t feel a diffrence (again driving on 1-2-spark&squirt). I change sparkplugs every 2 years before going the worldmeeting driving around 30.000km (daily use LPG) with them.. They look like shit when I change them with gaps up to 1mm, but they still do there job.. (and would do another 20.000km before starting to misfire I guess)..

Yes I use the Denso version and they are Great.

I change them every 1 to 2 years.

Took 4x4 to Nordkapp this February and hit -26c. With these plugs* the car started pretty much first time every time. When I ran Equiem plugs and it was cold in previous raids I had loads of starting problems.

Has anyone compared the super plugs with new standard plugs?

IIRC the race guys tested them in a Dyno and there was a power increase.

As to if they are worth it it depends what you want. For me £20 odd per year to know my car will start in -20c is worth it...

I have ordered a couple, so it'll be interesting.

No problems with the normal NGK though. Was it B6ES or 7 that is advised for roadtrip use? I can't remember.

unless you've got a low compression engine, or drive it very gently, I'd always recommend heat range '7' or '8' in NGK's range, so B7HS or B8HS.

As for the advantage(s) of iridium plugs, unless you regularly reverse the polarity of the coil or swap the plugs between cylinders, I doubt that there's much to be gained.
That's because one plug on an A series is always fired with 'reverse polarity', which erodes the earth electrode rather than the central one.

Starting in very cold weather?
Wasn't one of the recommendations from our Finnish friends to set the plug gaps at 0.6mm?

p.s. I've always used NGK B8HS in any race engines I've worked on; after a break for some years, I got involved again, spannering for a great bunch of Scottish lads.
5th at Anglesey 2 years ago, then 4th at Snetterton last year, using those plugs.
