Anyone use these, and what setting (3/4/6/8 cylinder) would you use for our engines. Anyone have experience of the cheapo meters on ebay etc.

Never really found a meter suitable for 2 cylinder. Halve the dwell on four cylinder I believe. Not good for my poor old eyes on analogue.

Part of the reason I like electronic ignition.

I have a Draper Expert "digital automotive analyser" model DMM5. I can't remember how much I paid for it, though being a tightwad probably less than £35. Most seem to be much more than that today. Only had it a couple of years and never used it on a 2cv, but if you halve the four cylinder reading it should compute(?) I think - rubbish at maths.

The dwell range caters for 3,4,5,6,& 8 cylinder engines. Came in a pouch with spare leads with crocodile clips. Does all the other mulit meter functions as you would expect.

Got it through either Amazon or Ebay, though Amazon state currently unavailable.

I have never used one of these.. However I would put it at 4 cilinders and divide the reading by 2..
