Can anyone give me some guidance on stamping these two plates to look convincing? In trying to get our 1986 2cv on French plates, we find we need a certificate from the FFVE, basically the french classic vehicle association, confirming the vehicles identity in order to get a Vehicule de Collection registration class (ie: Classic car). I've had to buy these blanks as the original engine number plate is missing, I've yet to investigate the Chassis number but likely to be missing too as the car was re-chassised 20 years ago. The FFVE will need photos of the stamped plates, which I can do of course, but I need to know which area on the plates is to be filled in with which numbers.

VIN/Chassis: Sorted now

Engine: Sorted.

There is a firm in Brittany i think. They make your plates if you present them with a official Citroen production document.

I re-chassied my 1962 AZU and didn't get the chassis stamped when I bought it. At the Controle Technique (MOT) it was noted as "no chassis number" in spite of it being on the riveted alloy plate on the chassis cross member (RHS just in front of the steering rack). I asked who could stamp the number and got a French shrug of the shoulders. I looked on Google which said it was illegal to re-stamp the chassis. So I got a Dremmel grinder and etched it on myself! Satisfied the CT test station and has done for the last few visits.

and the felt heater tube eaten by the mots....had some of those too. Just keep the wire loops they come in handy as you make new tubes.. ;-)
