a common complaint I think? A couple of questions - do Amis have the same set up as 2CVs and also, the rubber washers that ECAS sell - will they be suitable to seal the spindles.

If not - what would people recommend - i really don't want to use mastic, but is there an alternative?

You can also use the red rubbers from Grolsch bottles to put over the wiper spinldles.

Fixes, (or at least slows) a 2CV wiper leak and you get some beer into the bargain.

Then on the way to Czech you can drop the bottles off in Holland and get the refund money!!

Rubber washers - waste of time, only stocked because people ask for them!

Ami will almost certainly fully dismantle (like 2cvs up to about 1974?), the wiper motor assembly on frame will come out of the car & spindle assemblies are serviceable (once removed from the frame) by removing the nut on the back then thoroughly greasing the axle & bearing bushes with soft grease, you will probably even find a stock o-ring to suit the outer from your local bearing specialist.

Am I right in thinking that to get to an Ami6 wiper motor you have to take the scuttle panel bit off, which seems to be held in with lots of rusty self tappers? maybe worth squirting some pentrating oil in there first?

i think i have stopped the leak (and it's very wet in the We(s)t Country at the moment....

the wiper arms ease off the spline,
undo a 20mm chrome nut,
remove inch long diagonally cut tube,
applied a little Hylomar to the above,
carefully replaced tube / nut to hand tight,
seems to work

if it doesn't - then i reckon it would be quite easy to make a gasket - albeit an oval shaped one (because of the diagonal cut)

anyone have any experience of these kits to make you own?
