| Post subject: | Windscreen Wiper Blades |
Why are wiper blades for the AZU such rubbish? They do not flex and wipe a "flat" screen, they perish within weeks and rust at the first time they get wet. Even the 'chrome' ones go rusty. What do you use ? BobH (AZU forgonnette) |

The Valeos on my 2CV are in good shape but I ordered a set of new Valeos from Burton's when I need them. Thinking they would be hard to find over here or the I'd run into the same issue I had with my Trabant 601. I had to do some crafty engineering on my Trabant to make some 10" rear wiper blades fit the arms. Nothing I could find in the US would attach to the arms. So I had to drill or pop out the rivets on the blades and swap the new blades to the old clips that attach to the arms. I had to used some flat washers between the clips because the new blades being a wee bit narrower. I think I used some short bolts/nuts with LockTite in place of the rivets. Works fine otherwise. I've had good luck with Bosch Microedge on my Subaru which lasted about 6 years. But the car sits in the garage when not driven. And is seldom driven during Summer which is late March to early November over here. Then winter is nothing but rain. So I drive my 2CV and other cars during the summer. I had some Michelins on something (my van I think) which did not last a couple of years. The ones now on my Chevy van are made by Rain-X and my van sits out in the hot Tennessee sun all year round and they have been on there for ages. Whatever Nissan uses are shite. My wife has a 2015 Nissan Cube and it sits in the basement and one of the blades started to rip on that thing. And it's only got 10,000 miles on it. Not to mention the tires are going to need replacing soon before it hits 15,000 miles. Anyone ever notice car manufactures put the cheapest tires and wiper blades on their vehicles when new? |
