Mine's an old tyre lever bent at 90°. Always worked (so far). |

A length of 30 x 3mm flat steel, with one end bent at 90*, works for me. Grind or file the 'business end' to fit into the slots of the castle nut... |

p.s. Forgot to mention that adjusting this nut will have no effect on any play which has developed between the 'sliding bearing' and the 'guide tube'. Its only purpose is to adjust the depth of mesh of the teeth on the pinion and the rack to ensure that they work smoothly and without binding. |

Thanks Guys I'll try this adjustment first and see what I can achieve. That's if I can get to it whilst in situ. I've still not had a proper look at it due to the weather.
