...... I did not know about the brake hoses. So if my brake hoses have red strips on them, they are not rated for LHM brake fluid?

2CVs didn't have brake hoses after the late 60's.........

That's correct! There are no front brake hoses on a 2CV!

So are you saying that your disc-brake 2CV has them at the rear? If so, I suspect you're probably going to have more problems than just that pipe joint on the caliper.

Well, there shouldn't be on a disc braked 2cv, but some of the earlier ones, as Chevrons2 has intimated, did have a 'rubber' connecting pipe from the master cylinder to the junction close by the front brake drum, and at the rear a short section each side, which was later replaced with the long coil in the rear axle.

It's a learning curve! Makes life interesting!!

I didn't use any extreme torque.

So between the brake fittings and calipers there are rubber seals? It's not flared like a typical brake line fitting?

When I mean typical, I mean like this:

They are like this:

The seal goes on the end of the pipe and is compressed as the union is tightened.
(This system was used on the big Citroëns with very high pressure hydraulic suspension, brakes, etc).

I'd get one of these http://biblio.co.uk/book/citroen-2cv-am ... 7Qod3FIHQQ

I got the Haynes book. As well as every other book they have written for all the vehicles I own. Except the Trabant and Yugo.

I have not read it from front to back yet. Not only is the 2CV's body unique so is the mechanics. You would think it was made by aliens from another planet!

Make sure you use the correct brake fluid after your work or all hell will break loose
