| Post subject: | AKS steering rack |
Hi, I've been rebuilding an AK for some years now. Now that I have reached 65 I thought I'd better get my finger out and finish the job! My question: I've renewed/replaced part as I've gone long. I haven't done the steering rack but would have liked to tackled it but I just haven't got the time. Prior to taking the van off the road many years ago there was no apparent problem with the rack. Is it worth the effort to refurbish or am I just making work for myself? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks. |

If the steering was oke pior to taking it off the road, I would not be bothered. Just give it a good smear of grease on the front side of the steering rack, the part you can see if you look at it from the front ! Some like to fit an extra grease-nippel in the cap of the steering pinion. |
