Post subject:  AYA 2 435 cc engine fails

For my 1974 2CV AZU I have two spare-engines .
One of them we resored and it works well.
The other-one seemed to work well, outside of the car .
As we built it in the car to make sure that it was working as it should, it seemed to be that it only could manage 50 km /hour, no more.
As we had this other engine working well, we decided to let for what it was.
It is now two years ago, that we did this.
Now spring is coming, I thought of this engine again and I would like to have it running well.
What could cause this problem? I had the same petrol-pump, the same carburettor etc. which I use in the car for the original engine and this is running very well.

Ofcourse .
It will take some time though, we still have this 2CVAZ to work on, the engine is for sparetime ( leisure time ) ;)

also ignition timing. compression of pistons

I would start with checking the advance curve with astrobe and see if it goes to about at least 30 degrees of advance.. If not that is your lack of power. If you dont have a strobe check at least if the advance mechanisem works well. If all ok check valve clearance and then compression.. if also ok. check valve timing..

I thought the advance mechanisme might be the cause before, but have not checked .
I will start with the items Geo suggested and go from there .
Cheers
