Parcel shelf installation help
I know this sounds trivial but how does the parcel tray attach to the car? Assuming mine came with one to begin with and it was discarded or was lost when the previous owner had the car repainted. Mine did not come with one, I didn't even know mine was supposed to have one until I found it on Burton's website and there's not another 2CV around here for miles for me to inspect. I'm assuming this is the correct direction the parcel shelf is supposed to go. It would appear as thought a rod runs through the looped ends that are folded over and they go into these mounts. How does the other end attach? I found assume it attaches to the back of the rear seat maybe? Photos would be great! So far this is the only photo I've found on the internet. I think this is a D*lly version and only the rear hatch opens on mine (not the hatch and rear window together). Much appreciated! By the way, I noticed the "o" in D*lly replaced with a "*". A curved metal rod fastens the front of the shelf to the rear seat [the back of your rear seat should have the holes for the self tappers in it .....my Spesh had them in anyway] And a straight rod through the back of the shelf holds the rear of the shelf up [I suspect there may be specialist clips involved for this purpose .....my 1988 Spesh did'nt have them so I just used tie wraps instead]

Did you order this No at the time I didn't know there was any special hardware went with it. I didn't see it on Burton's website, or missed it. For some reason I thought this was a hard piece of material instead of a "hammock" like the parcel shelf on my Yugo. Well that answers that question.

thr rear hinge should be fixed by bolts and not screws, i think the other brackets are for the big hatch. The conntect the hinge to the bar. Just visible at the left on your other photo.

You mean here in Burton's site! The hardware is on it's way! Not trying to be impartial ordering my parts from Burton instead of ECAS 2CV but their shipping time is incredible! 2 to 3 days across the Atlantic. I can't receive packages from the west coast quicker than that! Royal Mail from the UK to the US is about 2 weeks. I don't know what ECAS uses for overseas packages. I'm been used to paying DHL 50 Euros for a 2KG package from Germany when I order my Trabant parts and wait three weeks for delivery. And hope the contents of the package arrive unscathed... Shipping a pair from Germany was going to cost $60. I found some on Ebay.UK, (AutoPol or something) for about the same price but about $20 shipping. Side note: I wanted to upgrade the R2 headlamps in my Trabant to H4s. At the time all I needed was some headlamps. Trouble is a 7" H4 headlamp for a US spec car won't fit a European spec car unless there is some major hacking done to the housings or the headlamp buckets due to the alignment tabs and mounts because of the silly sealed beam DOT mandate that had been in effect since around 1940. H4s were technically illegal on public roads before the 1990s. That's why the alignment tabs are different. Maybe to prevent people from using higher wattage bulbs. So H4s were sold as "For off road use only" or "not DOT approved". The weird thing was US cars used to have replaceable bulbs until around 1940. Then they went to sealed beam headlights which were shitty. The "real" story I heard was Sylvania or GE came up with the sealed beam headlamp and "lobbied" the US government to require them for use in all cars sold in the US. Eventually automakers started using body contoured headlamps, either for aesthetics or because the government wanted more aerodynamic cars that got better gas mileage so sealed beam headlamps were no longer mandatory.

I hate to beat this subject like a dead horse but still have yet to figure this thing out! I got my hardware kit the other day and it contains: curved bar straight bar Two 6 or 8 mm bolts Two tapered head screws I've been working on some other stuff and just fiddled with it for about 5 minutes this morning after I got off work. The bars are no brainier. The hooked pieces attach to the hatch but where? The hooks have threaded holes so I assume the bolts with the hardware kit screw into them. Now where do they screw into on the rear hatch? There are two aluminum colored pieces on each end with an oval shaped hole in them. I have no idea what the function of these piece does. And a rusty screw below it. Do I need to remove these aluminum pieces and mount the hooks into them or remove the rusted screws? I'm not even sure if these pieces are removable or made into the top mechanism. I just haven't got to that step yet. Then once these pieces are mounted to the hatch, the straight bar just lays in them. Of course a photo would tell me everything I needed to know but can't seem to find one with them mounted on the car. Just photos of the hooks themselves. As mentioned the curved bar fits into the rear of the seat back. Does it just pop in some holes in the seat back and that's it? Or are the tapered headed screws used here? I noticed on the ends of the straight bar are some tiny holes but look too small for the screws. The final question is, was this parcel shelf standard and someone just removed it during the restoration and never put it back on or was it a dealer installed piece of aftermarket? Mine was missing the hooks so I assume maybe mine never came with one to begin with. Thanks.
