A few years ago I installed one of these between the heat exchanger and the duct in the bulkhead on my Trabant 601:

These things are listed on Ebay as either brake coolers, bilge pumps or electric superchargers. I don't know what there actual application is.

It seems like the one I installed generated more noise than it did air flow. I removed it. I think I paid less than $10 for it with free shipping.

Just like with my Trabant, with the 2CV, the heat coming from the ducts feels quite hot but there is not much air velocity taking place. With my 2CV, yesterday morning when it was slightly below freezing outside, I could actually feel the temperature drop inside the cabin just about as soon as I stopped while waiting at for a traffic light to change.

As I've mentioned before, I've been putting together a wish list for Christmas and I noticed Burton sells one of these fans:

Any of you guys installed one of these in your 2CV? Do they work? Any complaints?

they were standard in german 2cv's of the 80s. I have one laying around here that was half melted for some reason. I don't like them. Do you have the grille muff mounted?

Just the cardboard with the holes cut out in the meantime. It seems to be keeping the engine warmer but just like before not much velocity coming out of the floor vents. The tubes are in good shape but there are not clamps on them. From photos I've seen they are not supposed to have clamps.

Looks like what I tried on my Trabant. Maybe I should give it a shot on my 2CV?

I actually have a larger one that would not fit the Trabant and might be 3" diameter.

At first. Make sure your engine is warm enough. If don't, you just can't get warm air from anywhere...

Then, a small blower is enough...

Try to have oil temperature over 90C, then your engine also like to last longer...

Are your heater flaps in the good position. Well opened, and your demister/footwell selector in the right position. I once mesured the air coming out of the vents is was about 70 degrees celcius

Yes.

The insulation in the heat exchanger dump ports feels a bit "crusty" when the heater is on but I don't feel any hot air blowing from them when the heater is engaged. If that makes sense. In other words it feels like all the hot air is being diverted to the cabin.

Clean the cylinders fins.
Yes you have to remove the ducts.
