Post Front lumbar seat repair!
When I got my 2CV, the first thing on the list of things to repair was the front seat. It has no lumbar support , especially on the driver's side. Like something has come loose from where the bottom and back are supposed to meet.

All the rubber springs are in good shape. It appears there a hog ring or two that had broken.
Maybe someone plopped their fat ass down and they broke.

When I look at the top of the seat I can see this white cheesecloth material (for lack of a better term). On the rear I cannot. The rear seat which has no issues seems to have this same cheesecloth material pulled taught then stitched together.

The other day I had the front seat out and brought it into the house (since it was 36C in my garage) and was going to pull the cheesecloth material taught then temporarily hold the material together with staples then stitch it using some quilting thread.

Well guess what, my wife said this would not hold. So to please her I ended up making my own hog rings using two or three welding rods I cut down and bent.

Now I got one of them poking me in the butt! And the seat is still lacking in the lumbar department and not very comfortable.

So the question is, if I want to fix this seat's lumbar issue, what do I need to do?

Is the cheesecloth material supposed to be stitched together? And someone just didn't do it?

I still think stitching the cheesecloth material would hold.

modern 2cv's have seperate bottom and rear seat elements. The old ones had seats in one piece.

The canvas square with wire edges is what gives the seats their strength.

if seat and back are fixed together the rubbers in the back will carry a part of the load and so the seat will be much stronger.

Well I pulled the front seat out for the second time for a closer inspection. Like I said, it looks like someone plopped their fat ass down and broke the support in the back and some other support things.

Looks like a new hardware kit is in order!

I temporarily fixed the sagging seat by pulling the cheesecloth material taught them stapling it together with about 100+ staples as a temporarily fix. Luckily I only weigh 155 lbs (11 stone) so hopefully it will hold long enough.

I found a couple of YouTube videos on installing seat hardware. Seems simple enough.
