Thinking of removing the indicators off of the front wings like old 2cv's. Where and what can I fit instead and still get through the MOT?
Also old round style door mirrors that fit off the window, are these possible on standard not suicide doors?
8-)

Ditched side-repeaters when car had a restoration in 2008 and had new wings without the holes. Been to a number of MOT stations since, and never had a fail. The original fitments are just rust traps. Those little mirrors are continental driver's side only, I believe, and should fit later windows/doors.

yes the mirrors fit also new doors but the qualitiy is not great. I had to force them in the vice to be able to see next to the car instead of the opposite curb...;-)
on my old 2cv i did put 1940s belgian indicators on the bumper overriders.

My garage told me the car was required to have the repeaters on the side or it would fail. Due to the year.

For the UK mot, cars first registered from 01/04/1986 must have indicator repeaters.
Isn't Mark's question about the indicators in the front of the front wings, rather than the repeaters?:

In the Mot tester's manual it says:
"The precise position of direction indicators is not part of the inspection, but check visually that the lamps are at about the same height and the same distance from each side of the vehicle".
And also:
"at least 50% of a lamp must be visible from the front, rear or side as appropriate".
This last bit is useful when explaining to mot tester's that the "teddy bear's ear" indicators on early cars & vans are for the front as well as the rear, despite being mounted at the rear of the body-sides. (If they still disagree, you take the lens off and show them that the bulb faces forwards but has a reflector around it, to reflect half the light backwards).

Thanks, yes I was looking to remove the indicators off the front of the wings as well.
The rear of the front wing ones corroded and the studs snapped off, the modern replacements I found are rubbish by comparison, clip in but a bad loose fit.
Rat looking the car and looking for ideas, small descrite indicators on the headlamp bowls?
