I reckon the manifold on my '88 (M28 engine) car probably hasn't been off since it left the factory, there's nothing really left of the nuts at the front. I've got a worsening gasket leak and after a year I think it's time to do something about it! Was thinking of splitting the nuts off with something like this: ![]() - A good idea? Any other tips? |

Will you have enough room for it - the nuts are in a recess in the manifold. |

Sam, I use a small cold chisel to cut away part of the remains of the nuts. Something like this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ECLIPSE-SPEAR ... v0WU-g_tNw If you point the chisel in the direction that the nut would unwind, you should find that it 'peels' away from the thread, leaving it undamaged... |
