 Re: Valve Stem Seals
I've never had any problems fitting them without any special tools. Other than a valve spring compressor to undo the valve springs and a deep socket to press the seals on.
The seal that fits easily over the inletstem is the exhaust seal...that tip is free.

 Re: Valve Stem Seals
Once again, thank you Sean. I've rebuilt most of the engine with your input. Very much appreciated.

 Re: Valve Stem Seals
This one for Sean: I tried to thank you in a PM for your advice but I can't seem to get it out of my outbox. All became clear with your advice. I was trying to insert the seal via the combustion side of the head! What confused me was the plastic installation sheaths supplied with the seals. I thought these were to get the seals in to place easier. As it is the accessibility is easy in the correct location (also once knowing where they should be I could see the old ones' they had acquired the same colour as the surroundings.) Not quite sure what the installations sheaths were for. Just for confusion! Certainly did me! Merci Beaucoup again

 Re: Valve Stem Seals
I've just done valve stem seals for the first time, and thanks to Sean and Ken's advice (and Joey's help), I found it pretty easy to push them on with a deep socket and extension bar.
The sheaths go over the ends of the valve stems, so as not to damage the seals when pushing them over (I didn't have these, so used insulation tape).
