Hi, key goes in but won't turn so the steering lock will not release. :!: I've got the plastic part with the 3 ignition wires off of the back of the ignition barrel and can start the car, obviously can't steer it though. :x

Any fixes on how to break off the steering lock?

Try turning your key while turning the steering wheel from side to side.
If it's really broken, take off the steel plate at the side by grinding the pins away and take out the locking mechanism.

Many thanks, drilled out the two small domes on the side plate, pulled out the pin with the spring on from underneath then managed to leaver out the mechanism with a screwdriver.
I intend fit an aircraft style toggle starter instead. Never liked the steering lock. :x

There is no requirement for a steering lock on a car the age of a 2CV.
