 One for Ken!
Funny one for you - runs fine on normal roads from start up and then the motorway for 2 hours at 70mph then as soon as I start doing some stop start driving and normal road speeds stutters on first application of accelerator - any ideas?

 Re: One for Ken!
Coil showing its age would be my first thought, especially if you're running an original ignition setup... Nelsthebass wrote: Do you mean it's hot and so causing that? Exactly.. Driving for long distance and then stop will cause a lot of heat building up in the engine bay which can heat up and vaporise the fuel in the carb which causes a lean spot for a momemt when driving on again....

 Re: One for Ken!
I saw the same over here in Poland again and again at the gas stations... 2cv's which needed to start for more then 20 seconds befor they came alive after a refill when hot (driving on the motorway for hours and hours)... Luckely my engine started within the first turn of the key with 1-2-Spark and 1-2-Squirt). And no it's not an advertisement I just noticed it several times... Should have made a video of it so....

 Re: One for Ken!
One of my friends had the above symptoms Geo and they went away when I re drilled primary, retarded the ignition a tad (123) and then fitted my spare high output coil
the coil made the biggest differance to the running, the jet and timing sorted the pinking/pinging/

 Re: One for Ken!
I'm still driving on the original 45 years old black coil going along with the original 45 years old car..I never felt the need to use another coil. Not even in my turbocar.....
Your coil is as good as you ignition system is...
