Pardon my higorence, whats a Wheezer?

and just to put this thread back on track re: what fuel to get abroad? I stronly recommend petrol [except in France where petrol is in fact the French word for parafin] OH its all to complicated. Where is that conversion kit to LPG

Erm,
if I'm not mistaken, some of the 4x4 squad have been known to swear at their 123, when it's let them down.
I recall Paul Tyson's pickup going into the 'running on one cylinder' mode during one of Louis' adventure weekends in the Dalby Forest. This is a fault which has been reported by other users more than enough times.

Chris Isles' other car, not the 4x4 Dyane, suffered a sudden and complete failure of its 123 on a relatively short trip to one of the northern camps a few years back.
Unfortunately, he wasn't carrying the 'fallback' points box and points cam in the boot at the time.

As for smoother running, I recall challenging anyone who wished to drive a car and without looking under the bonnet, be able to distinguish whether it was on 123 or properly set up points.
There weren't any takers, even though there would have been a 50/50 chance of getting it right. :lol:

Ellie's Sparky is still on points, and had a brand new "normal" coil a couple of years ago. I've got a 1-2-3 I won in a raffle several years ago sat on a shelf, but I've just never got round to fitting it...

Points FTW. I can change points for a fiver when they are broken, I can't afford a new elec ign every time it goes wrong.

Eh? I've never had a car running 123 (or any of the clones)! Lumenition, yep - used that plenty of times. But never 123.

OK so newbie question... 123 and Luminition... what's the difference? (I have luminition on the D*lly, the mehari's on points i think)

The main difference is that 123 replaces the entire points box, balance weights and all. It calculates the advance itself, from a map of revs and (on some) manifold vacuum stored in memory.

Lumenition is much simpler, in that the old manual advance gear remains.

I dunno if you can even get Lumie any more.
