Hi all, friend of mine is building a 2cv based kit car, and wants to fit standard 2cv wheels but with lower profile tyres, so the actual diameter would be no more than 20 inches. Any ideas what tyres would achieve this aim please? |

I don't think he'll find anything that small that fits on 15" 2cv wheels. And does he realise that he'll lower his gearing by between 15 and 20%? |

I'm using 155/65/15s. I reckon that's as small as you can practicably go, and that's on 1/2" wider than stock wheels. |

Smart car has 145/65r15, 22inch diameter, that's what I ran but it suits my modified gearbox. http://www.exploroz.com/Vehicle/Tyres/SizeCalc.aspx |

He'd need something like 135/45 or 145/40, I'm pretty sure they don't exist. |

I don't understand the need to have such little wheels, but if it's that essential then why not just re-rim them with 13" or 14" rims? I had a go at it a while back and it's pretty simple, the local scrapyard only wanted a fiver for old Ford Fiesta wheels, so it might even be cheaper than buying hard to find, odd sized tyres? |
