Hi, My drummer sits on a genuine re manufactured Citroen galvanised chassis from ecas. At mot time, the mot man noticed that when jacked up, the driveshaft gaitors hit the chassis plate as shown below. What would cause this, can I have fitted the gearbox mount the wrong way around, thus the gearbox is not quite in the right place?

You can fit the gearbox mount backwards, not sure it'd cause that but it's possible I guess. Mount being knackered and sagging might do it? Are the arm droop stops in place? |

Thanks Russ. I don't think the droop stops are in place  Top view  Perhaps I'm just imagining it? |

Ben, with the type of droop stop bracket shown in your photograph, the rubber buffers bolted onto the chassis are not required. If someone does make the mistake of fitting them, the bracket will just cut through the rubber. Other than that, have you tried bending those 'middle gaiter protecting plates' downwards? That should be enough to keep your MOT person happy, but not the spiders which have found a home on the driveshaft...

plates are angled down usually this seem to be horizontal. |

Thanks very much all  Sounds like some bending is all that is required - excellent! Now just to replace the inner and outer joint boots and talk nicely to the spiders. |

If it only touches when jacked up, I wouldn't bother bending them. Depending how good the galvanising is, it might crack the coating. Also, if you had the inner wing finger rubbers fitted to the rectangular slot they would be at the wrong angle. I suspect most people don't bother with them anyway. |
