I can't remember the last time I took one out, what's involved? Remove the two brake pipes, remove the two bolts holding it on, but apart from that does one simply pry the reservoir off, and without crawling about in the pissing rain tonight do I have to remove the pedal box to pass the cylinder through the bulkhead? I'm wondering if this is a lunch hour job or whether I need to lay the car up over the weekend? |

You are right. Bolts of, reservoir off, pipes off, and then pull the "pedales" into the car, cylinder forward. Easy peasy. |

If you have reservoir and pipes of you can pull cylinder complete with pedals to the inside.. After removing the pipes i always put 2 bolts in the holes to avoid dirt coming in. Good luck. |

roll pins stop the pistons falling out - think Haynes is pretty good for illustration |

had bad experiences with overhauling master cylinders, but also had some luck in some occasions. my problem was in several attempts that the new rubber cups/ seals have slightly a wrong dimension and then your piston gets stuck or drags inside the cylinder... hope you are one of the lucky ones. Maybe they're a bit bigger because they expect you to hone the cylinder? |
