I've managed to get a hold of one of the original citroen towbars - the long one that goes to the rear axle bolts on the n/s.

Do I need longer axle bolts to fit this?

usually the diagonal part isn't bolted with the axle bolts, maybe yours is different?

Possibly - I'm stripping this off of a wreck of an old chassis, so i guess it may not have been installed correctly, or may not even be an original citroen and I'm making a mistake.

I'll get a picture tomorrow.

The Citroen one does bolt to the left axle position. As luck would have it the longer bolts you do need are the same as the front brake caliper bolts. This tip came from Ken.

Good to know, thanks. I night have some spares somewhere. It certainly wasn't held on to the old chassis by them, just regular rear axle bolts - must have been just gripping the axle by half the intended threads

This is the towbar in question. Note the added bit of old chassis that was easier to remove than the bolts holding them together...

Is this original citroen?

If you remove both the axle bolts at the same time, the axle can move and then it can be fiddly getting them to line up again. What I do is this:
Remove one bolt and replace it with an old one with the head cut off and a slot cut in the end, so that you can use a screwdriver to wind it in. It doesn't need to be tight, as it's only for location. Remove the second bolt. Fit the towbar and one longer bolt. Remove the slotted locator bolt. Fit the remaining longer bolt.

never seen this model. i had an other 3 legged version that fitted somewere forward on the chassis flange but not on the axle bolts. Did you check if it fits on the acadyane? With the different chassis model as a 2cv?
