Post subject:  Clonk!

A few times recently, but especially last night, I've noticed a noise coming from the back end of my van - a 'clonk' noise, similar to what you would hear from a loose front shock mounting plate. Anyone got any idea what it might be? Wheel nuts are tight, shocks secure and the knife edges haven't escaped.

I wondered if it could be an arm bearing away, but I'm not sure how to check for that.

Worn arm bearings are just too common with Acadiane, to test - remove shock absorber, jack up that corner and axle stand or better, release all spring tension by winding out rear suspension rod, wag around, feel for wear.

Most likely it are worn knife-edges (I hope it's the right name) or the eyes where they fit into are worn, Now if your suspension move they settle and make this clonk noise... Anybody agrees...
