Because I like airride 2cv's as much as you do I want to start a topic with videos showing 2cv's on air-ride going up and down (by air not what you think :oops: :oops: )

Well here's the kick off of a German twin engined hotrod, first attemp...

Many projects for airride on Snail Forum.
Also what are the lengths of 2cv coil springs, free and compressed as I have found an airbag that may replace coils very quickly and easily

I think he posted about that on snail and they couldn't quite see the appeal of a low 4x4.. If he can make it work at speed then 2cv Quattro would be properly cool. 8-)

see Kens Photo of springs!.
Uncompressed length 2cv 185mm front 195mm rear but see in the manual.
Compressed maybe 30/40mm less
Spring rate a whopping 800 lb/in

Hi Geo,

I remember you mentioned in another thread that a lot of 2cv's use air cylinders (instead of bags) do you mean like this pic?

As these units operate on both sides of the piston you could replace the spring pot with two of these back to back.
You could also fit a valve and reservoir to the 'empty' side of the piston and fill it with oil to act as a shock-absorber, self contained unit 8-)
Thoughts?

Spec says 10bar may work with a pair?
To compare Current Citroen C5 spheres are at 40/50bar.

Normal airrides never exceed 10 bar, normal working pressure is in the range of 7 bar or less..

I like those cilinders but the stroke is a little short so in my opinion no good and looking at the post and package price they are pricy too..

I'm using the Monroe Ma829 they cost about 80 euro for 1 axle (2 pieces) and they include shockabsorbers.. Mount them as evil Ben does and you will have a nice ride I guess...

You don't need shockabsorbers at aircilinders, you can take an "airbrake" the at the other airinlet of the cilinder that works as a schock.. Please take a look at airbagit.com...

@ sub pete... Citroen Hydropneumatics is a whole other concept, they dont use air but NOX
and it is a closed environment so no airvalves aso..

probably you'll have to lengthen the tie-rod mountings on your swing arms, to lower the working pressure. the stroke will be more than enough, if you're happy with the current range of the swing arms.
Be smart and don't do business with Airbagit (or Chassistech or AIM industries)
