 Front Brake Bleed Nipple
Today on operation rebuilding the race car, when got through the list and got to the brakes, put some LHM fluid bled the rear brakes, got to the front bleed nipple and could not shift it, I've taken the calliper off and held it in the vice still to no avail! - so come on you clever lot how do I remove it now?

 Re: Front Brake Bleed Nipple
Are we talking simply siezed into it? I'd usually say heat but I'm assuming the caliper is full of new rubber bits. If you can sacrifice the nipple I'd take a shitty old ring spanner, put it on the nipple and weld it on. The localised heat should unsieze it without damaging the caliper, and the welding should mean you've got some purchase on the nipple and can apply some decent force.

Hi Russ, nipple rounded, did think of welding a ring spanner on it, wasn't sure if the nipple was steel or not

I assume it is, but now you've said that I can't be sure. I ordered two recently and I'm pretty sure they're stuck to my magnetic parts dish.
How is the car coming along?

 Re: Front Brake Bleed Nipple
Will try the welding gag tomorrow - car coming on had quite a good day on it today, until I got to the brake bleeding bit even got the touch up paint out today - its all running and every thing is working on it (except brakes) l have 3 seat mounting plates to get welded in and one seat belt mounting eye then thats about it really

Bleed nipples ??? are iron should weld well, put some copper slib to the new ones....
If you have the calipers of the car, you can try to put them in a vise.. but when welding them mostly the welding heat does the trick, not the spanner...

 Re: Front Brake Bleed Nipple
i would suggest to weld a nut onto the nipple, it also saves a spanner.

 Re: Front Brake Bleed Nipple
its steel heat it smoking hot then a sharp blow square on the top as if you were nailing it in, then mole grips.
failing that weld an M8 over it tap with hammer while still glowing and unscrew
its a plain old M8 if you have to clean up the thread
