hi all, my old 2cv has a grumble coming from its rear wheel bearing or bearings? but at the time passed its mot just an advisory now its getting more pronounced ![]() i like to do the repairs myself but apparently its a devil of a job i have a brake drum extractor but there.s more to it has anyone had any experience or tips? thanks! andy |

there is a fair bit on it in the archives - sometimes just better to collapse the ring |

Just done mine best to breakout the ring and buy a new one as the peening over stops them from being unscrewed without damage to the drum thread ![]() |

thanks kitwight didn,t realise the retaining ring is peened the rumble from the rear is getting more pronounced i,d better get on with the job the brake shoe adjusters are seized too ( as they do) |

I've never found removing the ring nuts back or front to be a problem with the correct tool from ecas. Trying to break them out before I had the tool caused problems hence why I decided to invest in the correct tool. ![]() |

it could be a de laminating shoe if its a car thats been stood for a while |
