The last time my discer was used the handbrake was woeful. Unfortunately, the mot man doesn't accept "I'll just leave it in gear, mate" so something has to be done.

Jacked up the front of the car this evening and hooked out the old pads. The good news is that I'm now 8p richer. The wear does seem rather lopsided, with the inner pads on both sides wearing more than the outer:

I've dropped in some new pads, hopefully this time I won't need the 2pence pieces!

Now, finally, my question. Is it correct that one of the levers is sitting off the peg, but the other on the peg? That is, on the offside the inner lever does not rest on the stop, but the outer does. I've checked the cable and I've got about 30mm of thread on the offside, and 25mm of thread on the near side. I guess now would be the time to set these correctly (I'm using a combination of cats website and the 2cvgb handbook).

Thanks for reading this far!

Haynes. It's not right for everything but it's pretty good for setting the handbrake. As I recall (it's been a long time since I did this job!) both levers should be in roughly the same position and the threaded ends of the cable should be of a similar length each side.

Thanks! I'll have a check tonight.

loosen the cables, then loosen the locking bolt on the eccentrics, turn the eccentrics (forgot to which side but it has to touch the pad in the middle) till it just runs free, tighten the locking bolt and adjust the cables.

I haven't owned a disc brake 2cv for the thick end of five years now. I still occasionally find greasy 2p pieces on the floor of my shed.
