Hi guys,

Having real probs getting the suspension can off my chassis. Rear tie rod end is undone no probs but the trouble is the nut furthest from the can is loose and the one nearest is tight as. When I turn the nut with the spanner a the whole thing turns. I have tried tightening the front nut whilst trying to loosen the rear but getting no where.... Any suggestions?

Aren't there any cutouts in the threaded bush? These you can use to put in a steel strip to prevent the bush from turning, while undoing the nut closest to the can.
WD 40, heat, hammering, etc. could also help to loosen things up.

I can't remember as its been ages since I've done one, but if you get the front nuts off, pull the threaded bit out and let the front rubber donut drop out, you should be able to drop the front of the can down once you've got the tie rod through the slot and slide the can forward.

Or maybe you can't do that. I dunno.

Sean's recommendation is to drill an 8 or 10mm hole through both the outer tube (which is part of the chassis) and the threaded inner tube, then push a bolt in to prevent the inner one turning.

Also, fitting the 46mm spanner onto the nut and giving it a good thump with a hammer on each face of the nut usually sorts out any problems with a nut which refuses to let go...
