Ken's post in setting the ride heights properly has forced my decision to do it properly on my drummer.

What tool do most people use? Graeme Seed doesn't make the tool anymore, and I don't really fancy spending £30 on the fancy ratcheting spanner at ecas.

Mole grips, if you're lucky a 9mm spanner or if the gods are really smiling on you they'll turn by hand.

I was lucky, mine turned by hand, everything on the car had been greased on a regular basis, looks horrible but nothing seized.

Use 2 spanners size 9 at once to spread the load.
If a mole gripe is absolutely necessary, i usually put them on the ring beside the spanner place (the friction weld?) to prevent the rest of the rod from being damaged.
But if everything is okay, it should be possible to turn them by hand.

They're a bit sticky, I'll just struggle on with mole grips. Thanks chaps.
